Fairground and a Pigeon House

September 14, 2010 § 9 Comments

I will be moving out of Chartres in 2weeks so I thought I better start capturing all the areas I like in the city. There are so many beautiful buildings here of medieval and renaissance style.

Down by the river there is an old pigeon house which was probably used when sending mails but now the pigeons just use it to rest. I love where this building is situated by the river surrounded by trees.

I added the paint after, I like the central trees and bushes but I feel like I messed up with the tree on the right.

To celebrate the association’s weekend they put up a fairground in the town centre. While eating some candyfloss (barbe à papa in French meaning daddies beard, I did actually see a child licking the candy floss and sticking it to their chin) I drew the carousel and wheel.

The carousel was difficult to draw as it kept moving (of course) but it was awkward to draw the horses and everything in the background, so I did a minimalist version. To be honest I only like certain aspects of this drawing, like the ticket office and the top of the carousel.
